Ten Tips For Gracious Living

TITLE: TEN TIPS FOR GRACIOUS LIVING
SCRIPTURE: Colossians 4:6

"Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man." (Colossians 4:6, KJV)

#1 - It's not what you say but how you say it that makes all the difference.

#2 - What good will it be win the argument but lose the relationship?

#3 - Listening is the first step to understanding and the visible posture in humility.

#4 - Ask questions not to find loopholes to manipulate but to find opportunities to encourage.

#5 - Learn to see the spirit of the law instead of the letter of the law.

#6 - When we pray God's will be done in heaven and on earth, it is not about separating life now and the future. It is about being consistent in our spiritual walk that God be honoured at all times.

#7 - Community is not about different people coming together to do or say nice things to one another. It is about being real and honest about what we say or do, in a manner that honours God and loves one another as beloved brothers and sisters in Christ.

#8 - Some say prayer is talking with God. Others say prayer is about walking with God. I think prayer is less about doing but more about listening; less about mouthing our prayers but more about matching our heart's desires with the Word of God. Psalm 37:4 is particularly instructive. Prayer is delighting oneself in the presence of God, that our inmost desires of our hearts can be appropriately met; God's way.

#9 - If Christians can learn to affirm lawful behaviour with mercy and grace, they would be giving another reason for anyone to consider Christianity.

#10 - True rest on the Lord's Day does not simply mean leisure or entertainment. It means we learn to put aside the worries and concerns of the other six days. For one day a week, we take a rest from anxiety, from worry, and all manner of stressful activities that distract us from focusing on God. The more we practice the Sabbath this way, the better we are keeping the Sabbatical principle.

Have a great week!
